Counting Evangelicals: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives
29 September – 1 October 2026, online
The tasks of counting evangelicals and determining who “counts” as an evangelical frequently occupy both scholars and practitioners of this global Christian movement. They have been, and remain, salient to key questions about the definitions and identity, growth and decline, and the leadership and mission of evangelicals. This conference, in partnership with the World Christian Database, on the occasion of the release of their latest global study, examines these issues in both historical and contemporary perspective, involving in the discussion leading scholars and practitioners, such as representatives of the World Evangelical Alliance. Conference themes include:
- Quantitative studies on local and global evangelicalism
- The significance of gender and ethnicity in global evangelicalism
- Evangelicalism, migration and mobilities
- Definitions of evangelicalism
