Brian Stanley

BRIAN STANLEY is Professor Emeritus of World Christianity in the School of Divinity at the University of Edinburgh, UK, where he taught from 2009 to 2023, and served as Director of the Centre for the Study of World Christianity. He has published widely in the history of Protestant missions and world Christianity. His books include The World Missionary Conference, Edinburgh 1910 (2009), The Global Diffusion of Evangelicalism: The Age of Billy Graham and John Stott (2013), and Christianity in the Twentieth Century: A World History (2018). He has edited several other books, including Christianity and Empire Revisited (forthcoming from Brill, 2025) and the collection of lectures by the late Andrew F. Walls, The Missionary Movement in History: A Biography from Birth to Old Age (2023); this was the last of the 29 volumes in the Eerdmans series, Studies in the History of Christian Missions, of which he was co-editor with Professor Robert Eric Frykenberg.
