Charles Ramsey

Charles M. Ramsey is Associate University Chaplain at Baylor University, and teaches adjunctively in the departments of History, Religion, and at George W. Truett Theological Seminary. Ramsey is a Senior Fellow at the Religious Freedom Insitute, and a public intellectual active in the field of peace and reconciliation.

He is regarded as an area specialist for India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran. Ramsey holds a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Birmingham (UK), a MA in the History of Religion from Baylor University, and PGC in Poverty Reduction from the Centre for Development, Environment, and Policy at University of London (SOAS). Prior to joining Baylor, Ramsey was Assistant Professor of Religion and Public Policy at Forman Christian College (Lahore, Pakistan). 

He has been awarded grants from the British Library, United States Institute of Peace, and the American Institute for Pakistan Studies. Ramsey is Editor, South Asia Section of Christian-Muslim Relations: A Bibliographical History (CMR 1500-1900) and the author of books and articles including: South Asian Sufis: Devotion, Deviation, and Destiny (London: Continuum, 2012); The Gospel According to Sayyid Ahmad Khan,  translated and annotated with Christian W. Troll and M. Basharat Mughal (Leiden: E. J. Brill,2020); and God’s Word, Spoken and Otherwise (Leiden: E.J. Brill, 2022).
